$653 million Rutgers students garner that much financial aid in a single year. 86% of undergraduates and 80% of graduate students receive aid. 55% qualify for Pell grants (awarded to low-income students) and other federal grants. Through the Rutgers Future Scholars Program, 800 academically promising middle school and high school students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds are given five years of precollege support and can attend the university tuition-free if they are accepted.
